Anderson Penuela, M.D.
Cardiology
Dr. Anderson Penuela has been a part of the MSPB Cardiology family since 2013 after completing a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Louisiana State University Shreveport Health Center. He is quadruple Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Penuela was raised in Colombia and graduated in 1999 from the Medical School at the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, where he was awarded by the Colombian Association of Medicine Faculties among all doctors who graduated in Colombia in 1999.
​
After completing medical school, Dr. Penuela spent two years on Cardiovascular research endeavors with the Fundacion Cardiovascular Heart Institute, where he studied the risk factors associated with Coronary Heart Disease.
He has submitted work to several journals and has been published in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology.

Dr. Penuela went on to complete an Internship and a Family Medicine Residency at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2007. After completing his Family Medicine Residency, he completed an Internal Medicine Residency in 2010 at Louisiana State University Health Center where he earned the position of Chief Resident. Dr. Penuela completed his Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Louisiana State University Shreveport Health Center in 2013.

Dr. Penuela also did significant work as a Research Coordinator at Louisiana State University in Shreveport studying the mean platelet volume in patients, which was presented at the 2012 American College of Cardiology Annual Congress.

Dr. Penuela speaks both Spanish and English. He is accepting new patients and cares for patients in our Atlantis, Boynton Beach, and Wellington offices as well as rounding on patients at JFK, JFK North, Wellington Regional, Palms West, Bethesda East, Bethesda West and Select Specialty Hospital.

Dr. Penuela is proud to be a husband, father and to call South Florida home.
